Christmas 2024 – Meet the Cast!

We are excited to announce the cast for Hansel & Gretel 2024 - you should recognise one or two of them!

This Christmas we are thrilled to be taking Hansel & Gretel – our first ever family Christmas show – back to one of our favourite cities. We look forward to another festive season at the beautiful Tobacco Factory Theatre in Bristol – Tickets are available now.

We are excited to announce this gang of familiar faces will be joining us on the adventure. Please welcome the cast of Hansel & Gretel 2024:

Martin Bonger – Nicholas

Martin is a Bristol based theatre maker, whose work includes The Collision of Things, Fat Man, Messenger and This Crossing. He is a collaborator with Simon Day and together they made Keepers, There Shall be Fireworks & Engine Break. He regularly creates work with other theatre companies including Green Ginger, Pins and Needles and Complicité. He worked on five shows with NIE. He has worked on a number of Radio 4 plays including the recent drama The Poor Olympics.

 

Joey Hickman – Nigel

Joey trained on the Actor Musicianship course at Rose Bruford. He is delighted to be back with NIE this year, having previously worked with them on The Snow Queen and Snow White.

Acting credits include: Brassed Off (Theatre By The Lake & tour), Brief Encounter (SJT & Tour), Assassins (Watermill Theatre), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Southwark Playhouse), A Midsummer Nights Dream (Watermill Theatre), A Christmas Carol (SJT), Romeo & Juliet and The School for Scandal (Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory), Cinderella: A Fairytale (Tobacco Factory), Made In Dagenham (Queens Theatre & New Wolsey), Oliver! (Watermill Theatre), The BFG and I Was A Rat! (Birmingham Rep/UK Tour).

Joey is also a Musical Director, Composer and Arranger with credits in London’s West End (The Comedy About A Bank Robbery) as well as the Old Vic, Leicester Curve and Watermill Theatre.

 

Stefanie Mueller – Gretel

Born in Switzerland, Stefanie studied at the International Theatre School Jacques Lecoq in Paris.

She was founder member and Artistic associate of Hoipolloi Theatre for 25 years, working as an actress, director and set-designer.

TV includes: Homeland, Killing Eve, The Crown, War of the Worlds 2 & Lockerbie.

Recent Theatre work includes: The Snow Queen & Snow White with NIE; Amt Für Zuwart und Gegenkunft, We Know Not What We May Be & Love Letters for Metis Arts; Unconditional & MotherEarth with THisEgg

Abayomi Oniyide – Hansel

Abayomi is an Actor who graduated in Drama & Physical Theatre from St Mary’s University in 2017. He has appeared in numerous stage productions with New International Encounter such as Snow Queen (2022) Macbeth (2023) and Hamlet (2023). He has also appeared on a TV series Queenie (2024). Abayomi is also an active Producer in a production company called Walk With Walker.

 

Samantha Sutherland – Lady 

Samantha trained at Rose Bruford College.

With NIE – I Will Be Everything (Nordland Theatre, Norway), Snow White (Polka Theatre), Beauty & the Beast (Tobacco Factory, New York), Snow Queen (Cambridge Junction, Tobacco Factory and Film).

Theatre credits include – Rapunzel (the Egg), Emilia (Vaudeville). 84 Charing Cross Road (Cambridge Arts Theatre), The Recruiting Officer (Salisbury Playhouse), Arabian Nights (Watermill), Oliver Twist (Bolton Octagon), Falcon’s Malteser (New Old Friends).

Samantha also works as a puppeteer and write. You can find her children’s story book The Adventures of Top and Imm in the Little Angel Theatre’s online Shop.
