Our new co-created show premiers in Cambridge
Our new UK show Once Upon A Time in Fenland premiered at the Galfrid school in Abbey ward, Cambridge, last month.
This show is co-created; it was developed from the stories of 250 year 5 children, from the Galfrid school, and others across the region. It will tour across Cambridgeshire this summer revisiting the children whose stories were used to create it. Arriving at Cambridge Junction for a Public performance on 10th June.
New ensemble members, Ryan Gilmartin and Nathalie Codsi, joined Greg Hall and Linda Scaramella to explore and select new stories written by the children who had taken part in creative writing workshops with us earlier in the year.
The company was in residence with the Yurt, and this was an opportunity to showcase artworks and animation made by the children of Abbey Ward.
Designer Rachana Jadhav, composer Greg Hall and director Michael Judge brought the different elements of the project to integrate all the different elements in the show, so that the children’s voices were at the heart of the storytelling.
We worked in partnership with Cambridge Archaeological Unit (CAU) and Wisbech and Fenland Museum to use artefacts from the most important archaeological dig in Northern Europe to tell stories of migration and tribulation told by an intrepid team of archaeologists. Featuring 3000-year-old objects and footprints from nearly a million years ago, these fantastical, funny and thought-provoking tales will transport you back through the ages to deep time when Fenland was joined to Europe and survival was the order of the day. Chris Wakefield, an archaeologist from CAU, joined for a very informative post-show discussion.
We don’t want to reveal the surprises, only to invite you to come to see the show.
Tickets are available HERE for the shows at Cambridge Junction on 10th & 11th June 2026.
More information coming soon about how to catch us at Ramsey Rural Museum, March Library, Wisbech Castle and other non-traditional performance venues across the fens.
